3/2 American Maid Washcloth Instructions

Looking for a quick project to use the wonderful 3/2 American Maid™ yarns?  How about a simple pattern to make ten soft washcloths?  These instructions work on either a rigid heddle loom or a 4-shaft loom.  The washcloths are made with natural white unmercerized cotton yarn as the warp, and naturally grown cotton yarns for the weft. We give you detailed instructions to make one wash cloth, and then you get to choose how to weave the others…there is enough yarn to weave 10 washcloths.  The finished sizes of the washcloths are approximately 9” x 10”.

The instructions are designed with the naturally colored cotton yarns from an 3/2 American Maid™ sampler kit, one 8 oz cone of 3/2 American Maid™ natural white and one 1.5 oz cone of 6/2 American Maid natural white for the hems.

Popping Purple Scarf — Instructions

Looking for a quick project to use the wonderful cotton yarns in your stash?  How about two soft, wonderfully textured scarves?  These instructions will guide you to make two scarves, using either a rigid heddle loom or a 4-shaft floor loom and approximately 1,200 yards of 5/2 mercerized cotton yarn.  The finished size of each scarf is approximately 8” x 60” plus 4” fringe on either end.

Gray Matter Scarves

Make two scarves, one for you, and one for a friend.   All the mercerized yarn and instructions to make two scarves that shift through 7 shades of gray from white to black. The finished size of each scarf is approximately 8” x 60” plus 4” fringe on either end.  The texture of the scarves is made by using a 3-shaft pattern (with use of a pickup stick if you have a rigid heddle loom), and the scarves are very soft and supple.

Seine Twine – Cotton

This 100% unmercerized cotton seine twine is ideal for high tension warps.  Especially Rug warps and Tapestry Warps.  There is very little stretch in this yarn, the tight twist makes the yarn very strong, and it wears like iron.  The natural color is an economical choice for warp in weft faced projects where the warp will be covered by a colorful weft.

 

Seaside Towels

We have used the wonderful color palette of the Maurice Brassard unmercerized cotton yarns to dream up the colorways for these soft towels.

RIGID HEDDLE KIT:  Included with the kit are instructions to make two plaid towels using a rigid heddle loom:  one woven in plain weave, and one woven in a soft pickup pattern.  The finished sizes of the towels are approximately 12.5” x 20”.

4 SHAFT KIT:  Enough yarn to make 4 delightful plaid towels: two woven in plain weave, and two woven in rosepath pattern.  Includes 4 shaft instructions.  The finished sizes of the towels are approximately 18” x 26”.

Kitchen Set with a Sense of Place

Weave a whole set for your table with one loom set up!  Create 4 placemats and 4 napkins as well as a dishtowel.  The placemats are woven in rep weave, and the napkins and towels can be woven in plain weave, twill, or block weaves.  All you have to do after weaving the napkins and towels is to resley your loom to narrow the warp for the placemats. You can weave these on 2, 4, or 8+ harness looms.  Available in 4 colorways.
