10 Color Gamp Instructions

Gamps are a brilliant way to explore color interactions.  They will help you predict future color interactions and take the guess work out of project planning. This set of instructions will guide you through weaving three-four 10 color gamps.   The instructions are for our Bright Tubular Spectrum yarns.  You can substitute any 10 colors of Mercerized cotton yarn that you would like when weaving the gamps.

Available in 20/2, 10/2, 5/2, and 3/2 yarns.  Also available in 3/2 for Rigid Heddle looms.

Double Rainbow On-line Class with Jennifer Moore

We have 2 more sections of the Double Rainbow class available:  Workshop #4A and #4B.

Have you wanted to attend a workshop with Jennifer Moore and experience her amazing Double Rainbow technique?  Now is the time to participate in an on-line workshop with Jennifer!  You will be weaving in your home or studio on your own loom, and Jennifer will be meeting with you via Zoom.  It is so 2021!  And the classes will be limited to 20 participants so you will have lots of individual time to ask questions and get to know Jennifer.

The workshop dates are:

  • Workshop #1 March 8, 10, 15 and 17, 2021–Full
  • Workshop #2A May 17, 19, 24 and 26, 2021–Full
  • Workshop #2B May 18, 21, 25 and 28, 2021–Full
  • Workshop #3 June 15, 17, 22 and 24, 2021–Full
  • Workshop #4A July 6, 8, 13 and 15, 2021
  • Workshop #4B July 7, 9, 14 and 16, 2021

Additionally, the 4-days format will be conducive to weaving your sampler during the workshop timeframe, because the class time is spread out over 10 days.  Each of the 4 class will meet from 10-1:30 Mountain Time.  And as you can see from the schedule, you will have time in between the class periods to weave on your loom.  It is a great way to take a workshop even while we are in the various stages of isolation during COVID-19 times!

Lee Surrender Placemat Instructions

This overshot pattern is stunning! The finished size of these placemats are approximately 13.5” x 18.5”.  Lee’s Surrender is an overshot pattern that uses 4 harnesses.  The pattern listed comes from Marguerite Porter Davison’s book A Handweaver’s Pattern Book on page 184.

Weaving overshot is fun…you will weave with two shuttles.  One shuttle carries the pattern yarn, and the other shuttle carries the tabby or tie-down yarn.

Sweetheart Towels

You’re going to fall in LOVE with these towels!

Weave four beautiful heart towels on your 8-shaft loom.  The advancing twill pattern provides the heart borders, and then the body of the towel is woven with a fancy twill that creates a “sweet” texture.  We have included yarn and instructions to make two pink towels and two red towels using our 10/2 Tubular Spectrum yarns.  The finished sizes of the towels are approximately 16” x 24”.

Chameleon Ombre Scarf Kit

Enchanted Windowpane Towels

Combine a 2 ply hemp warp with 5 colors of 10/2 American Maid™ naturally colored cotton to weave 5 lovely fingertip towels (finished size approximately 13” x 24”).  The hemp yarn is manufactured in Romania, and we make the American Maid™ yarns from cotton grown here in the American west and spun in the US.  When you wash the finished towels with baking soda, the color of the naturally colored cotton yarns will deepen.  The green cotton is especially affected by the alkalinity of the wash water. And, the colors will deepen over time.

Project Description:

  • 5 fingertip towels
  • 20 EPI, 20 PPI
  • 15” wide in the reed
  • Warp length 6 yards

Equipment Needed:

  • 4-shaft loom with at least 15” weaving width.
  • 10 dent reed.
  • A stick or boat shuttle and bobbins

Contents of Kit:

  • 1- 1.5 oz cone 10/2 American Maid unmercerized cotton yarn each: Natural White, Dark Green, Light Green, Dark Brown, Light Brown
  • 1- 400g cone: 2 ply Hemp (Natural or Bleach)

Kitchen Set with a Sense of Place

Scarves that Go Bump Kit

American Maid Sampler Kits

American Maid Sampler

Have a sample of the finest American Maid™, Naturally Colored Cotton Yarns.  All of the yarns are made from colors of cotton that come straight from the plant.  Add some baking soda to your wash water and watch the colors deepen.  All samplers come with 1.5 oz cones of natural white, dark brown, light brown, dark green, light green and bleached white yarns.  There is enough yarn to weave a couple napkins, or add a 1 lb cone of white to the sampler kit, and weave a towel in each of the 5 colors of yarn!
