Reed Substitution

This chart will help you figure out how to use the reed that you own to reach the sett that you want to weave with.

To use the chart: In the top row, find the reed size you own. Then, find your desired epi (ends per inch) in the body of the table. Follow that row to the left-most column to get the order in which you should sley your reed.  The numbers in the left-most column indicate the number of ends that go through each slot in the reed.

For example if you have a 10 dent reed and you want to get to 15epi, you go down the 10 column until you get to 15.  Then look to the left, and see 1-2 in the left-most column.  This means in the first dent you will sley one end, and in the second dent you will sley 2 threads.  You will do this across the warp and you will then have 15 ends per inch in the reed.
