Tubular Spectrum™ yarns are 100% mercerized cotton yarns, dyed specifically for us in 46 fabulous colors.  The colors are all vivid, intense, and very color fast.  The yarns will withstand years of washing and will keep your handwoven treasures looking bright and colorful!

We developed a line of Mercerized cotton yarns that we call the Tubular Spectrum™.  The original 20 colors are based on Albert Munsell’s color system.  Munsell was a painter, who in 1905 developed the concept of five primary colors, instead of the accepted three.  By using purple and green as additional primaries, he was able to expand the color wheel to include purple blues and red purples.   These yarns are our interpretation of his concept.  We have expanded our Tubular Spectrum™ color line to include tints and tones of our original colors plus black, white, 5 shades of gray and natural. If you want to see a list of the colors with their hex codes, pantone colors and RGB values, click here.

These mercerized cotton yarns are from Egypt because there is no mercerization available in the US.  We have the colors dyed in the US after the yarn has been imported.  The Natural White yarn is the natural creamy white color of the cotton itself, and it has not been dyed.  Mercerized cotton yarn is the same as Perle cotton yarn.

All of the Tubular Spectrum yarns are available in 3/2, 5/2, 10/2 and 20/2 sizes of yarn.  All of the yarns are available on 4 sizes of cones:  1.5 oz mini cones, 4 oz cones, 8 oz cones, and 1 lb cones.  This page shows yarns available in 10/2 and 20/2.  If you would like yarn in 3/2 or 5/2, please click here.

1 review for 10/2 and 20/2 Mercerized Cotton Yarn – Tubular Spectrum

  1. Rated 5 out of 5

    Kathy G.

Over the last month I’ve warped and used for weft over 24K yds of your 10/2 Tubular Spectrum yarn, and I think in ALL of that I found four ‘bad spots’ (2 knots, 2 rough spinning places). What a treat to not have the annoyance of imperfect yarn during the admittedly very tedious warping and weaving processes, besides loving the colors and the color-fastness.
