Pantone has released their color of the year for 2025! This coming year's selection is a color from Pantone, called Mocha Mousse. Warm and comforting the color brings hot chocolate, thick mocha coffee and all kinds of indulgences to mind! According to Pantone, PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse is a classic color with humble and grounded roots and takes those roots to aspirational and luxurious levels. Use this color to treat yourself and those you love to some rich brown colors.
As the creators at Pantone say on their website: "Mocha Mousse is a mellow brown hue whose inherent richness and sensorial and comforting warmth extends further into our desire for comfort, and the indulgence of simple pleasures that we can gift and share with others."
Perhaps as we look to 2025, we all need some indulgence of simple pleasures to share with others.
The drafts shown here use our Tubular Spectrum™ yarns in Burnt Umber, Natural, Dark Gray and Black or Cranberry. The top draft is a Summer and Winter draft adapted from our Hopscotch Runner designed by Deb Essen. The bottom draft is a Shadow Weave draft that reminds us of a warm chocolate brownie or fancy chocolate square. Mmmmm...we can smell the chocolatey goodness with the hint of caramel sauce shown with the tiny stripe of Copper running through the middle in the warp and weft! We have a printable version of these drafts if you would like to print them out. Click here.
Mocha Mousse!
This year's color choice is warm and luxurious. The warm brown color with hints of red, natural and lighter browns is available in lots of yarns that we stock. And the best part of weaving is that we get to create the colors by the interaction of both warp and weft! No woven fabric has to be just one color... all the subtle over and undertones make handwoven fabrics items to treasure.
Those of us who love neutral colors have a whole year to celebrate, and those of us who are challenged by neutral hues have another wonderful color challenge this coming year! We hope that 2025 will be another year full of color adventures!
How will we all combine all the variety of browns with other neutral-colored yarns like sage, rose, copper, and cranberry in our weavings? What a delightful way to start a new year pondering what these soothing color choices will inspire us to create in 2025!
Showcase Mocha, Chocolatey yarns
As a beginning for our imaginations, we would like to showcase the yarns that we have in stock that evoke this new color.
Please be aware that these are intended as suggestions, NOT definitive choices. As we all know, colors on the cones look very different from the colors in the fabric. That is part of the magic of weaving, and as we gain experience with color, we learn how to exploit those shifts to get the fabric how we want it. Please be aware that the colors on your monitor may differ from the real colors, and colors do vary by dye lot. If you want to see the colors firsthand, we do offer a wide selection of sample cards.
Would you like to to add the colors to your weaving software? We have the hex colors and RGB numbers available for our Tubular Spectrum Yarns here. And for the Maurice Brassard colors here.
