Basket Weave 4 Towel Instructions

Want 4 Hand towels that are both functional and beautiful?  This is it!   8 colors from around our Tubular Spectrum Mercerized cotton plus enough white yarn to make 4 beautiful and functional basket weave (or other twill patterned dishtowels.  Finished towels are approximately 12.5” x 24”.  We include several treadling variations to make weaving fun!  Weave these on either a 4-shaft or a Rigid Heddle loom.

Project Description:

  • 4 Towels approximately 12.5” x 24” finished.
  • 15” wide in reed.
  • 16 epi, 8 doubled ppi (basket weave), 16 ppi for other twills

Equipment Needed:

  • A 15” (or wider) 4-shaft Loom with an 8-dent reed, or a Rigid Heddle Loom with 8-dent reed
  • Two stick shuttles or one boat shuttle with at least 2 bobbins
  • A sewing machine or a needle and thread

Yarn Needed:

  • 1- 1.5 oz each 5/2 Tubular Spectrum™ Mercerized Cotton Yarn:  5 Yellow, 10 Yellow Red, 5 Red, 10 Purple, 5 Purple Blue, 10 Blue, 10 Blue Green, 5 Green
  • 2-8 oz cones of 5/2 Tubular Spectrum™ Mercerized Cotton Yarn: Bleached White
