Bump Scarf Instructions

Bumps in the Night Scarves are made by combining merino wool and mercerized cotton yarns in both warp and weft!  The different shrinkage of these two yarns creates a delightful scarf that has a bumpy 3-dimensional texture.

Project Description:

  • 2 scarves (approximately 8” x 59” after washing)
  • Deflected Double weave using merino wool and 10/2 mercerized cotton yarn
  • 15 epi for wool, 30 epi for cotton
  • 4 or 8 harness
  • 12.5” wide in reed

Equipment needed:

  • 4 or 8 shaft loom with 13” weaving width
  • 2 shuttles, 5 bobbins
  • 15 dent reed
  • Light weight fishing line for selvages
