Oh! How we love hemp dishtowels! These are pretty enough for company (or those special gifts!) and sure to be a favorite at home for their brilliant colors and absorbency. These overshot wonders are a combination of Tubular Spectrum™ cotton and our Lyte™ Hemp yarns, the best combination for thirsty towels. Jean Jordan adapted a draft from Sharon Alderman’s book Mastering Weave Structures, page 136 when she designed these lovely towels. Instructions tell you how to make 3 towels. Project Description:
- Make 3 towels.
- Towels are approximately 16”x23” when finished.
- 4-shaft overshot draft.
- 20 EPI, 22 PPI
- Width in the reed: 18”
Equipment needed:
- 4-shaft loom with at least 20-inch weaving width.
- 10-dent reed.
- 2 shuttles and 8 bobbins.
Yarn needed:
Spring Burst Colorway:
- 1 – 1.5 oz mini cone of 10/2 Tubular Spectrum™ mercerized cotton yarn in the following colors: 10 Blue Green, 10 Green, 10 Green Yellow, 5 Yellow. These yarns will be used doubled for your Pattern weft.
- 1 – 8oz cone Bold Lyte™ Hemp yarn, Bleached White for Warp.
- 1 – 4oz cone Fine Lyte™ Hemp yarn, Bleached White for Tabby Weft.
Woodland Echo Colorway:
- 1 – 1.5 oz mini cone of 10/2 Tubular Spectrum™ mercerized cotton yarn in the following colors: Cranberry, Burnt Umber, Copper and Gold. These yarns will be used doubled for your Pattern weft.
- 1 – 8oz cone Bold Lyte™ Hemp yarn, Bleached White for Warp.
- 1 – 4oz cone Fine Lyte™ Hemp yarn, Bleached White for Tabby Weft.
