Before there were plastic bobbins there were quills, often made from rolled paper but now improved in sturdy cardboard. A reasonably priced alternative to plastic bobbins. These will work for all the Ashford and Schacht boat shuttles.

Paper bobbins fit on most boat shuttles, especially the Ashford and Schacht boat shuttles.
A word of caution: The paper bobbins fit nicely on the Ashford and Glimakra thin spindle bobbin winders, but not on the Schacht single-end bobbin winder. You can easily wind them using Schacht’s double-ended or electric bobbin winder.
