Instructions for Variegated Washcloth

Let’s make 5 washcloths using variegated yarn!  They weave up quickly on either a rigid heddle loom or a 4-shaft loom. This fun Color-and-Weave effect shows up when you choose a dark and light yarn.  The variegated yarn can be either the dark or the light yarn depending on what solid color you pair with it.

Unmercerized 8/2 Cotton Yarn – Maurice Brassard

8/2 Unmercerized yarns weave into lovely hand and dishtowels, soft and cozy blankets for your new nephew or niece, or many other soft and absorbent uses. All colors are available on 8 oz tubes and 1.5 oz mini cones, approximately 3,360 yards per pound (1680 yards on an 8 oz tube, and approximately 320 yards on a 1.5 oz mini cone). Sett these yarns at 16 epi for lace weaves, 18-20 for plain weave, and 20-24 for twill weave structures. You can also weave with these yarns on your rigid heddle loom by doubling the yarn and using a 10 dent reed.

A Place in Time Cowl Yarn Collection

Weave a Place in Time and create this beautiful cowl designed by Rebecca Morris and featured in the November/December 2022 issue of Handwoven Magazine.  It uses 8/2 unmercerized cotton yarn to make a lovely cowl.  We have created this yarn collection with the right amounts of all of the yarns to make one or two cowls as shown in the magazine.

Broad and Deep Towel Collection

We have assembled the yarns to make Christine Jablonski’s Broad and Deep Towels as shown in Handwoven Jan/Feb 2022 from Long Thread Media, page 58.  We have collected the Maurice Brassard yarns you will need to make these towels. You will need to purchase the instructions from Long Thread Media.

If you would like to make the towels with other colors, click here for more colors.  You will need two 8 oz cones and 1 1.5 oz mini cone to make the 4 towels as shown in the instructions.

Farmhouse Chic Towels

These 3 thick waffle weave towels are a wonderful kitchen or bath coordinate.  The designer’s granddaughter’s first apartment with its beautiful gray interior design inspired these classic hand towels. Instructions are included to help make your weaving a success.

If you want to coordinate these towels with your setting, you can substitute your own accent color for the red yarn to match your decor.
