Rexy the Dinosaur – Blog Post

Guess who’s back? Amber, your fellow crocheter.  After she made Violet the unicorn, it was time for a new animal.

Rexy is Adorable

I would like to introduce you to Rexy, the cutest and tiniest T-Rex ever! This pattern calls for a bit of hand sewing but look how the Tubular Spectrum™ yarn screams amazing quality.  The yarn felt good in my hand as I was making this adorable dinosaur, and you can see the stitches and the shaping of the figure really well!

Collect My Supplies

Before beginning Rexy, I gathered up what I needed:

Yarn Ring

I also like to use a yarn ring as it just protects my pointer finger from frequent yarn running across it. Some people do not like them, but I love mine. Knowing how to find the proper way to use them can be tricky. The trick is to have the yarn run through the middle of the ring, under your finger. This prevents all pressure from your finger allowing you to work faster.

Quality Yarn and Stitch Definition

I must say I am REALLY IMPRESSED with the 3/2 Tubular Spectrum™ mercerized cotton. The quality of the yarn and the stitch definition is amazing. The crochet stiches really pop, and as you can see in this picture, the cotton really holds the shape of the dinosaur.  As I was making the belly, the feet and legs were already stuffed.  You can even see his toes!

Sew Them All Together

Rexy stands about 9” tall. As I said above, this pattern calls for a bit of hand sewing.  You make the feet first and then connected, and you then continue for the body.  As you go, you hand sew the belly patch, spikes, arms, and head to the feet-body.   And finally, you add some eyes and sew on the head spikes.

Rexy is adorable!

I can’t wait to see what else I can create using the 3/2 Tubular Spectrum™ cotton yarn.
